Concept:

MOTE acts as a civic catalyst, connecting Newport’s industrial heritage with our technological future. The design integrates large cantilevered overhangs and a structural twist to indicate the upwards trend of evolution in our society.

BIM Leadership:

As BIM Coordinator and Lead Designer, I utilised advanced BIM workflows to coordinate complex systems through multiple application programs over cloud-based models.

2025
Project Length:

Five Months

Programs Used:

Revit, Rhinocerous, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Twinmotion

THE IDEA

The creation of the Idea inspired through precedent studies of MONA (Tasmania), Melbourne Museum and Guggenheim - Bilbao. These precedents gave my team and I the idea of a futuristic museum on the curved site provided in Newport.

THE DEVELOPMENT

We explored different variations of design, using different characteristics in the area to develop the shape of the building.

Design iteration 1

Variation 1 - Commercial growth in the area

Design iteration 2

Variation 2 - Looking closer at the train track

Design iteration 3

Variation 3 - Looking closer at the powerlines

Final concept was completed by another group member, which looked towards the growth of technology itself combining a split and a twist into the building.

THE RESULT

After various months of development a drawing package at a LOD of 200 for this project. This includes Flooplans, sections, elevations and details within.
